TBD - A Caring Community

One of the intangible benefits of being part of Temple Beth David is the friends that are made as we worship, celebrate, and study together. Part of the mission of our synagogue is that all our congregants will feel that they are a part of a community. Caring Community helps in that mission by enabling us to celebrate and acknowledge happy occasions that happen in the lives of our members and to offer support during times of sadness, illness, and stress. Please contact the Temple office, Rabbi Whinston or Mindy Fricke at caringcommunity@tbdcheshire.org if you or someone you know is need of the support of our Committee. We also love to hear good news so let us know of a happy event occurring in your family so we can send congratulations to you! New volunteers and ideas are always welcome.

Mishaberah list/ Prayer for Healing: If you would like your name, the name of a family member or friend read during the prayer of healing during the Shabbat Evening service please notify the Temple office, our Rabbi, gabbai or Caring Community Committee member.

Hospital Visitation: Our Rabbi is happy to visit you in the hospital or call on you if you are ill but he needs to hear that news from you or a family member in order to not violate your privacy. Due to privacy laws now enacted by health care providers, clergy are not notified of the hospitalization of a congregant unless you specifically request that your clergy person be notified. So please tell the Rabbi or Temple office of a hospitalization so we can provide support to you during a difficult time.

Yahrtzeit List/ Memorial Prayer: Names of loved ones are read prior to the Kaddish prayer on Shabbat evening to remember their passing. If you let the office or Rabbi know who you would like remembered,  their name can be added to the list and will be read every year on the Hebrew Calendar anniversary and during Yiskor service on Yom Kippur. Non -Jewish relatives’ names may also be read.
