TBD Brotherhood was started to foster social interaction among male adult members of the Temple. Additionally, TBD Brotherhood performs many functions that enhance the life of the Temple, such as setting up for the holidays or Shabbat events, helping to pay for equipment or sanctuary repairs, choosing the Chai Award winners, aiding the fund raising efforts and providing educational programs.

Chai Award
The Chai Award was established in 1988 by Brotherhood to show appreciation to those people who make an outstanding contribution to life at Temple Beth David. The Chai Award, which is presented at a special celebration banquet, has been given to both couples and individuals. Although many past award recipients have been Temple Presidents, holding the highest office is not a prerequisite for this honor. This award acknowledges those people who frequently volunteer their services to perform the many functions required to manage a 200 family congregation. Although these recipients rarely look for accolades, the Temple Brotherhood felt these people deserved special recognition.

Brotherhood dues will be $25. First year temple members are not assessed Brotherhood dues. Please send your check for the dues to Pat in the office or to David Glazer, 11 Stonegate Circle, Cheshire, CT 06410. The dues support the temple in so many ways. Brotherhood has helped to pay for computers, the Sukkah, repairs around the sanctuary, food baskets for our college kids, trips for our kids, etc. Also, we try to keep the cost of admissions at a reasonable level, so your dues are important to our programming. Don’t delay on sending in your dues.
The Brotherhood Board looks forward to working with you to make this year a special one for the TBD Brotherhood. If you would like to contribute your time or have suggestions for this year, please contact Ron Zeiger at 272-8215 or Tom Hyman at brotherhood@tbdcheshire.org. Don’t wait to join Brotherhood.
