About Us · Leadership

Temple Beth David is a Reform Synagogue dedicated to enhancing our relationship to God. With opportunities for participation in inspiring worship, engaging study, and Social Action, we encourage learning and spiritual growth. By creating a warm, caring environment that promotes connections within our congregational community, to the Jewish People, and the world, we will ensure that the teachings of Torah and Judaism will endure from generation to generation.

A Message From Our President

Mindy Fricke

Dear Friends,

My spiritual home is Temple Beth David. You may think that is an obvious statement considering that I am the president of the congregation but feeling this way did not come easily to me. Even after having lived in Connecticut for several years, I still did not feel that Connecticut was home. But now when I say I am "going home" it is Cheshire I speak of. When I talk about "my temple" it is Temple Beth David I am thinking about. How did this happen, something I did not think ever would when my husband first said he had a job that would take us to Connecticut?

It began with the first Mitzvah Day here at TBD when we planned this event not knowing how well it would be received, and saw the stream of TBD families coming in the door to spend their time volunteering to help others, when our Caring Community team was put in place and I had folks I had never met, contacting me to say they wanted to be a part of this initiative. It happened by going to a Temple wine tasting, a Havdallah sing-a-long, a Shabbat family dinner, being a room parent, helping to coordinate holiday celebrations, taking a group of 7th graders to NYC's Lower East side and witnessing a child's wonder at the beauty of the Bialystoker Synagogue and the size of Katz's Deli sandwiches, running around with auction items for the fundraiser we had several years ago, participating in Sisterhood services, seeing my children on the bimah, and watching my  husband carry the torah around the sanctuary. You get the point. Temple Beth David became my home because I decided to live here in my heart, not just my body; to become involved, to do what I could to strengthen this sacred community. I hope that you will choose, if you have not already done so, to become involved so that TBD is home in your heart as well, because I assure you it will be more than worth the energy and time you put in. But whatever level of involvement you choose, it is my mission as president to ensure that everyone who walks in the door of Temple Beth David feels welcomed, appreciated, and most importantly, that they are home.
