Our Mission
Temple Beth David is a Reform Synagogue dedicated to enhancing our relationship to God. With opportunities for participation in inspiring worship, engaging study, and Social Action, we encourage learning and spiritual growth.
By creating a warm, caring environment that promotes connections within our congregational community, to the Jewish
People, and the world, we will ensure that the teachings of Torah and Judaism will endure from generation to generation.

A Warm Approach to Jewish Traditions
We offer a variety of opportunities to grow Jewishly —through learning, through worship, and through connection to one another including:
- Worship services on Shabbat and holidays, including a monthly family Shabbat service, that are inspirational and creative.
- A lively religious school that provides Jewish education to children from pre-kindergarten to B’nai Mitzvah.
- Opportunities for further religious education at Makom, the regional Hebrew high school.
- Dedication to Social Action including an annual Mitzvah Day serving the community of Cheshire and the surrounding area.
- A Caring Community which gives support in times of stress, sadness and celebrates joyous occasions in the lives of our members.
- Adult education programs ranging from adult level Hebrew to guest speakers to mini-courses on various topics.
- An active Sisterhood and Brotherhood that supports our Temple and embraces members of all ages with social events, fundraisers and programs.
- Social and entertainment programs which help our members to be part of community that enjoys having fun in a Jewish context.
We work hard to provide enriching opportunities for all our members to enhance their Jewish knowledge, to engage in meaningful prayer, to work together to heal our world. At Temple Beth David we understand the importance of our community to come together to celebrate wonderful life cycle events and Jewish holidays, but also to be a truly caring community that provides support for everyone in times of need.
We encourage you to visit us! Meet with Rabbi Whinston, get to know our members, experience worship on Shabbat or a holiday, and visit our Religious School. Our hope is that once you do, you will soon become an active and engaged member of our community. Come be a part of the Center of Jewish life in the Center of Cheshire, Connecticut!
