TEMPLE PRESENTS CHAI AWARD TO MARTIN COBERN

Temple Beth David of Cheshire on Friday, March 26th will honor Dr. Martin Cobern with the Chai Award for his outstanding contribution to the life of Temple Beth David at a special dinner held at the Temple at 5:45 p.m. A Shabbat service will follow the dinner at 7:30 p.m.

Established in 1988 by the Temple Brotherhood, the Chai award has been given annually to those people who make an outstanding contribution to life at Temple Beth David. This award acknowledges those people who frequently volunteer their services to perform the many functions required to manage a congregation.

Martin Cobern has held various board positions at the Temple: Chair of the Ritual, Rabbinic Search and Social Action Committees; Second and First Vice President and two terms as President (1986-88 & 1997-98). Presently he serves as liaison to Congregation Kol Ami, a new congregation in Cheshire and is on the board of Cheshire Interfaith Housing. He is also active in the Cheshire community, as he is a member of the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Democratic Town Committee.

Dr. Cobern , his wife Dorie and their two daughters have lived in Cheshire and been members of Temple Beth David for eighteen years. He is Vice President, Technology of PMD Scientific, Inc. in Bloomfield, CT. Temple Beth David is very proud to acknowledge Dr. Martin Cobern as its 1999 Chai award recipient.
